The Snake And The Peacock

I finally got Sara Grace to do some of her animal sounds on camera. She knows quite a few animal sounds, but getting her to cooperate and do them on cue is more than a challenge (she's rather independent!).

And as an explanation of the peacock "noise". Jaybird had a book when he was a baby that had several animals in it. My mom was reading it to Jaybird one day and doing the animal sounds for each one. I told her I never knew what noise to make for the peacock. Without missing a beat, she told Jaybird that a peacock says, "Pretty" and made a hand motion like the tail of a peacock fanning out. So, Jaybird always said that's what a peacock said. Of course, I had to teach it to Sara Grace when we read that same book...and now you get to see her version of it. :)

Outside Fun

Just thought I'd share some sweet pictures from a fun day outside. Sara Grace has recently learned to ride her little scooter. She does quite a good job on it. It's sweet to watch her scoot around. And, of course, little Jaybird loves to ride his bicycle and play on his playground. This particular day they both insisted on wearing hats. They both LOVE hats. Didn't bother me any...keeps the sun off their sweet little heads and faces--especially Sara Grace who was blessed with my lovely pale skin....

Milky

Just thought I should introduce everyone to the newest addition to our family. This is Milky. She has decided to make our house her home. She has been around for about 6 weeks or so without us feeding her or really even paying much attention to her. So, we finally decided to "officially" make her ours....even though she had already made that decision for us! She is a really pretty kitty and has a super sweet personality. She likes to lay under Sammy's truck and recently has decided that the "fort" part of Jay's playground is her own personal cathouse. If we are outside, she is always right at our feet rubbing on our legs and just wanting to be a part of our family.
She even helped Jaybird with his practice for his first soccer practice.
Sara Grace really likes her and just giggles when Milky rubs against her feet.
If you stand still, she is always rubbing on your legs....whether you want her to or not. :) We didn't name her for a long time--just called her "that cat", but when we finally decided to buy cat food (acknowledging she was staying), we let Jaybird pick her name. We went through a few names suggested by Mommy, but he actually came up with one himself--and, of course, it stuck! He said we should name her Milky because she likes milk. (I found out Jay and Daddy gave her a bowl of milk one time when I wasn't home!)

First Soccer Practice!

Jaybird had his first little soccer practice last night! It was SO cute! We had a great time. I really think he's going to enjoy it a lot. There's only 4-6 kids on a team and we already knew 3 of the other boys! Sammy and I both thought Jaybird was the best one on the field...but we might be a little biased! :) He really had a good time and seemed to pick up on what his coach was telling him pretty quickly. I used to joke when I was pregnant with him that he was going to be a soccer player, but I never really thought he would be! I don't know a THING about soccer....guess I better start figuring it out, huh?? :)

Super Reader

These are from about a month ago, but I still thought you might like them. One day Jaybird asked me if we could make Super Reader outfits. "Super Readers" are what he calls super heroes. When he's pretending to be a Super Reader, he jumps and kicks and chops all over the house. They are the characters on one of this little shows that he watches, called Super Why, but he tells me that the Super Readers that he pretends to be are not the same ones as on the show.....he says he's "the mean ones".

He seemed quite surprised when I told him that we could, indeed, make Super Reader costumes (or at least our version of them!). He LOVED drawing the masks. We made two....he made one for himself and had me color one for Daddy, but then he decided the liked the one I made better so he said it could be for him and the other one could be for Daddy.

And you would have thought I was a complete genius based on the look he gave me when I showed him we could make a cape. He "flew" around the house in his cape for about a week. And it still makes an appearance about once a week. :)

It's Finally Here....Really!

Just so everyone knows, Sara Grace's first tooth finally really, officially came through Friday. It's taken it a good week and a half to make it's way out, but it's really here this time! So, at 15 months and four days, my daughter got her first tooth...it appears that it will be crooked.....but at least it's a tooth. Sorry I don't have any pictures yet....I pushed too hard two weeks ago to get a picture of what I thought was her tooth, so now she HATES to show it to anyone....

That Explains It

Well, Sara Grace broke out in a rash yesterday. That means her 105.7 fever Sunday was due to roseola....again. Weird Jaybird's never had roseola in his four years of life and little Sara Grace gets it twice in two months. I took some pictures of the rash this morning (I don't know how well you can see it). Since then it's spread to her face, neck, head, and is starting to hit her arms and diaper area. Good thing is supposedly the rash doesn't itch....and she is no longer contagious. Just looks yucky.
